New: Verify Your iOS App With App Store Connect
By AppAcquire · 16 October 2026 · 5 min read
Until now, iOS sellers without RevenueCat or Stripe had no way to prove their numbers on AppAcquire: the revenue was whatever they typed. App Store Connect changes that. Create a read-only API key, give it to us once, and we read your sales reports straight from Apple. Here is what it proves, how to connect, and what happens to the key.
Key takeaways
- iOS sellers can now verify revenue and downloads straight from Apple with a read-only App Store Connect API key.
- Buyers see 12 months of proceeds after Apple's cut and first-time downloads, marked "App Store Connect".
- It also proves you own the app: the key has to come from the account that publishes it.
- We use the key once and never store it, so you can delete it as soon as it says connected. It works for free and pre-revenue apps too.
What's new
App Store Connect is now a verification source on AppAcquire, alongside RevenueCat, Stripe, TrustMRR and Firebase Analytics. It is the most direct proof an iOS app can give: the figures come from the same sales reports Apple pays you from, not from a dashboard or a screenshot.
- Real proceeds. Monthly revenue is the average of your last three completed months, after Apple's cut, converted to US dollars. In-app purchases and subscriptions are included and refunds are subtracted.
- Real downloads. First-time downloads over the last 12 months, with monthly charts for both revenue and downloads.
- Proof of ownership. The app on your store link has to belong to the account that made the key, so a connected listing shows the seller really controls it.
- Works at $0. Free and new apps can connect too. A listing with no proceeds yet still verifies, and buyers can see the download trend.
How to connect
- In App Store Connect open Users and Access → Integrations → App Store Connect API and choose Team Keys. You need to be the Account Holder or an Admin.
- Press Generate API Key, name it AppAcquire, and give it access that includes Sales and Reports (Sales, Finance, App Manager or Admin all work). Nothing needs write access.
- Download the .p8 file, and copy the Issuer ID, the Key ID and your Vendor number (top left of Payments and Financial Reports).
- On the connect step of your listing, upload the .p8 file, paste the three details and press Connect App Store Connect. A brand new key can take a few minutes to start working.
- Once it says connected, delete the key in App Store Connect if you like. The listing stays verified.
What we read, and what we keep
- Read-only. The key only needs to read sales reports. We cannot change your app, prices or payouts.
- Used once. We read the reports on our server and never store the key or the .p8 file.
- One app. If your account publishes several apps, we keep the figures for the app you are selling and discard the rest.
- A signed snapshot. What we keep is a summary of totals, signed by AppAcquire so it cannot be edited afterwards. To refresh it, create a new key and connect again.
Works for every app in a listing
If you are selling more than one app in a listing, each iOS app can connect App Store Connect on its own, and each Android app can connect Play Console. Every app that connects shows verified figures, and the combined revenue on the listing says whether every app is verified. More on that in listing your iOS and Android app as one listing and selling a portfolio of apps.
For buyers
A figure marked App Store Connect came from Apple's own sales reports for that app. Because the key must come from the account that owns the app, it also tells you the seller controls the developer account the transfer will start from. It is still a snapshot: ask for a fresh connection or recent reports before you pay, and follow the due-diligence checklist.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it free?
- Yes. Listing on AppAcquire is free, and so is every integration.
- Do I have to keep the key active?
- No. We use it once to read your sales reports and never store it. Delete it in App Store Connect once the listing says connected.
- Why does Apple need a Vendor number?
- Sales reports are filed under your vendor number. You find it at the top left of Payments and Financial Reports in App Store Connect.
- My app is free. Is it worth connecting?
- Yes. The listing is verified with $0 revenue, and buyers see real download numbers for the last 12 months, which is often what they care about for a free app.
- Which currency are the figures in?
- Apple reports proceeds in the currencies you sell in. We convert them to US dollars so they can be compared with other listings.
- Why is the newest month missing?
- Apple publishes a month's report a few days into the next month. Until it is out, that month is left out of the average.
