App Store Connect

Create a read-only API key in App Store Connect, give it to AppAcquire once, and we read twelve months of sales reports for your app. We keep a signed summary and discard the key, so you can delete it straight afterwards. It works at $0 revenue.

Connect in five steps

  1. Open the API page

In App Store Connect open Users and Access, then Integrations, then App Store Connect API, and choose the Team Keys tab. You need to be an Account Holder or Admin to create a key.

  2. Create a read-only key

Press Generate API Key, name it AppAcquire, and give it access that includes Sales and Reports (for example Sales, Finance, App Manager or Admin). Nothing needs write access.

  3. Download the key and copy three details

Download the .p8 file (Apple lets you do this once). Copy the Issuer ID at the top of the page and the Key ID next to your key. Your Vendor number is at the top left of Payments and Financial Reports.

  4. Paste them in AppAcquire

On the connect step, add your App Store link, upload the .p8 file, fill in the Issuer ID, Key ID and Vendor number, and press Connect App Store Connect. New keys can take a few minutes to start working.

  5. Delete the key

Once it says connected you can delete the key in App Store Connect. We used it once and did not store it.

What buyers see

  • Revenue per month: the average of your last three completed months of proceeds, after Apple's cut, converted to US dollars.
  • Downloads: first-time downloads over the last 12 months, with monthly charts for revenue and downloads.
  • In-app purchases and subscriptions are included, and refunds are subtracted.
  • Everything is marked "App Store Connect" and signed by AppAcquire.

Good to know

  • Apple keeps about a year of reports, so the numbers cover the last 12 months.
  • A month's report appears a few days into the next month. If the newest month is not out yet, it is left out of the average.
  • This is a snapshot. To refresh it, create a new key and connect again.
  • The app on your store link must belong to the account that owns the key.

Troubleshooting

"Apple did not accept that key"

Check the Issuer ID, Key ID and .p8 file all come from the same key. A new key can take a few minutes to start working.

"This key cannot read sales reports"

Create the key with access that includes Sales and Reports, such as Sales, Finance, App Manager or Admin.

"That key's account does not have this app"

Use a key from the App Store Connect account that owns the app on your store link.

"We could not confirm this app belongs to that account"

The key could not read your app list and the app had no downloads in the past year. Use App Manager or Admin access, or an app with recent downloads.

"Check the Vendor number"

The Vendor number is shown at the top left of Payments and Financial Reports. Copy it exactly, without spaces.

My revenue shows $0

Apple had no reports with proceeds for the app. That is normal for a free or new app, and the listing is still verified.

  • How verification works · What the Verified badge needs, which connections count, what buyers see, and what stays seller-reported.
  • What we read, keep and delete · What each integration lets AppAcquire read, what we keep, what we discard, and how to remove it.
  • RevenueCat · Verify a subscription app by pasting its RevenueCat Verified page link. No API key, and it works before the first sale.
